Formulation and Evaluation of Floating Microspheres for Oedema

چکیده
Oral gastroretentative dosage forms offer many advantages for drugs having absorption from upper gastrointestinal tract and improve the bioavailability of medication that is characterized by narrow absorption window. The purpose of present study was to formulate and develop a new gastroretentative controlled release diffusion of furosemide from the cellulose acetate floating microspheres. Furosemide is a widely used highceiling loop diuretic drug with low bioavailability (60-70 %) and shorter halflife (1-2 hrs). The microspheres were prepared by using o/w emulsion solvent evaporation method. The formulated floating microspheres were characterized for their micromeritic properties, surface morphology by SEM, in-vitro buoyancy studies, percentage drug entrapment efficiency and invitro drug release studies. Optimization studies were carried out by taking organic phase volume and drug: polymer ratio as independent variables and percentage drug entrapment efficiency and time percentage yield and size as responses using 3-level factorial design. The prepared microsphere formulations having percentage drug entrapment of 78.4%, and buoyancy of 89.42% with floating time up to 12 hours.

Cefpodoxime Proxetil Floating Microspheres: Formulation and In Vitro Evaluation
The objective of the present study was to develop floating microspheres of cefpodoxime proxetil in order to achieve an extended retention in the upper GIT, which may result in enhanced absorption and thereby improved bioavailability. The microspheres were prepared by non-aqueous solvent evaporation method using polymers such as hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose (HPMC K 15 M), ethyl cellulo...
متن کاملPreparation and In Vitro Evaluation of a Microballoon Delivery System for Theophylline
A multiple-unit oral floating system was prepared using the emulsification-solvent diffusion method to prolong the gastric emptying time of theophylline. For this purpose, theophylline, ethyl cellulose and dibutyl phthalate were dissolved in an ethanol/dichloromethane mixture, added to 0.1 M HCl containing NaCl (20%) or saturated theophylline and/or different concentrations of polysorbate 80 an...

متن کاملFormulation and Evaluation of Magnetic Microspheres Of Cytarabine
Cytarabine is the drug of choice for treatment of leukemia. However, many formulations have been prepared, due to certain limitations they could not prove to be effective ones, therefore magnetic microspheres are formulated as they minimize the Reticuloendothelial clearance and target site specificity can be increased. The current study aimed to utilize nanotechnology to develop magnetic micros...
متن کاملGelatin Microspheres for the Controlled Release of All-trans-Retinoic Acid Topical Formulation and Drug Delivery Evaluation
A topical o/w cream containing tretinoin microspheres was prepared. Gelatin microspheres of tretinoin were prepared using coacervation method. These microspheres contained about 50% w/w tretinoin. The particle size range of microspheres was between 90-150 m m. In vitro drug release from microspheres and a cream formulation was studied. It was shown that drug release from microspheres followed H...
